I'm excited to say I got selected to represent Great Britain at the World Cup in Belgium. Unfortunately due to COVID my race got cancelled so I wasn't able to travel and race. I'm gutted it got cancelled but I'm really happy I got selected and I'm excited for the next opportunity!
This weekend I raced a small local league race where I came 2nd overall and won my category! Due to COVID the race was 10minutes shorter than normal so I focused on attacking out the corners and I rode really hard. I haven't had much racing this year so it was amazing to be back on the start line. The course really suited my style of riding so I am really happy with the win!
I was lucky attend the Great Britain Cyclocross Team training camp up in Yorkshire. The first day we focused on skills and drills, the conditions were really slippy so I kept falling off. It was good to push the limits and ride in conditions which can't be replicated in my training. After the session we did a strength and conditioning session followed by a workshop focusing on the World Championships. The next day was harder with timed efforts and mini races. It was amazing to be riding with the best riders in the country and I learnt so much from the coaches.
I had an amazing time racing my first ever cyclocross world cup in Tabor, Czech Republic! It was great to be racing abroad in such a big race in GB colours. I got unlucky with a hard crash off the start leaving me a long way back but I kept chasing all race and enjoyed every moment. I'm gutted that my new GB skinsuit only lasted 500m before getting a hole!!! I loved racing on such a brutal course which was unlike anything in the UK. It was an amazing experience and I am so happy that my lockdown training has payed off!
