June, 2021
So this weekend I have raced three races all part of the Youth National Road Series in Kent and Dover. Road isn't my first choice but I need to build on my skill and race craft after the pandemic. Out of the 50 girls entered I finished 10th on GC (general classification) which I am pleased with. Lots learned and more national road races to come this summer.
So national racing started again this month and we travelled all the way to Cornwall for it. With very limited racing in the previous month I have to say I was a little apprehensive and the course was super technical with a lot of climbing. The weather for the days before had been scorching but the morning of the race we woke up to fog, mist and rain which didn't clear all day and with a 4:30 start the course had become slippery. I had a good start and settled into my rhythm quickly, I loved the course and soon gained confidence and by the middle of the first lap I was in first place and just kept pushing on. I took the win with nearly 2 minutes in the bag to 2nd place so I was super, super happy.
